Disappointing. This could have been a really great book but just didn't ever dig deep enough - not into the characters, not into the setting, not into any details. (Well, except for the food. Every meal that is cooked is described in minute detail. Everything else is glossed over.) Both Kassa and Elizabeth wrote reviews that I think hit the nail on the head.
I didn't read enough of this to feel like rating it would be fair, but I'm pretty sure had I finished I would have given it 2 stars.
